It’s been a while since the last update—not out of neglect, but because I wanted to take the necessary time for a fundamental decision: finding the perfect fabric that truly embodies the soul of Sighthound Tales.
As you know, this project was born from the desire to create elegant accessories that celebrate the special bond between humans and sighthounds, always with respect for the environment. And on that, I couldn’t compromise.
The Rethink: When “Good” Isn’t Good Enough
At first, I had chosen a recycled twill, a choice that looked virtuous on paper. But when the prototype scarf arrived, alongside the joy of seeing my ideas come to life, a doubt surfaced that I couldn’t ignore.
The fabric was stiff and rough to the touch, a technical issue linked to the excessive weight of the twill, but most importantly, it still contained virgin polyester and released microplastics when washed. For a project that wants to support nature and rescue sighthounds, this contradiction was unacceptable.
That’s when I realized: it wasn’t enough to do “better than average.” I had to do what felt truly right, even if it meant starting over.
The Search: From Local Traditions to Certifications
I intensified my research in the Como area, historically tied to high-quality textile production. It was during these meetings that I discovered the potential of Lenzing’s Ecovero viscose, a material that completely changed my perspective.

Perché Ho Scelto l'Ecovero per Sighthound Tales

È passato un po' di tempo dall'ultimo aggiornamento, non per dimenticanza, ma perché ho voluto prendermi tutto il tempo necessario per una decisione fondamentale: trovare il tessuto perfetto che incarnasse davvero l'anima di Sighthound Tales.
Come sapete, questo progetto nasce dalla volontà di creare accessori eleganti che celebrino il legame speciale tra umani e levrieri, ma sempre nel rispetto dell'ambiente. E su questo non potevo permettermi compromessi.
Il Ripensamento: Quando il "Bene" Non Basta
Inizialmente avevo scelto un twill riciclato, una scelta che sulla carta sembrava virtuosa. Ma quando è arrivato il prototipo del foulard, accanto alla gioia di vedere le mie idee prendere forma, è emerso un dubbio che non riuscivo a ignorare.
Il tessuto risultava rigido e ruvido al tocco – un problema tecnico legato al peso eccessivo del twill – ma soprattutto continuava a contenere poliestere vergine e a rilasciare microplastiche durante i lavaggi. Per un progetto che vuole sostenere la natura e i levrieri rescue, questa contraddizione era inaccettabile.
È stato in quel momento che ho capito: non bastava fare "meglio della media". Dovevo fare ciò che sentivo giusto, anche se significava ricominciare da capo.
La Ricerca: Dal Territorio alle Certificazioni
Ho intensificato la ricerca nel territorio comasco, tradizionalmente legato alla produzione tessile di qualità. È stato durante questi incontri che ho scoperto le potenzialità della viscosa Ecovero di Lenzing, un materiale che ha letteralmente cambiato la mia prospettiva.
